Assisted stretch therapy session at VCan Fitness studio in Brentwood, TN

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to support how your cells produce energy. At VCan Fitness in Brentwood, it is included free during your Fascial Stretch Therapy session, so you get a full session of stretching and light at the same time, for one price.

What red light therapy actually is

Red light therapy, also called photobiomodulation or low-level light therapy, is simple in concept. A panel or device shines red light (around 660 nanometers) and near-infrared light (around 850 nanometers) onto your body. There is no UV light, no tanning, and no heat burn. You just feel a gentle warmth.

The reason researchers care about these particular wavelengths is that your cells absorb them. Inside every cell are mitochondria, the parts that turn food and oxygen into usable energy. When red and near-infrared light reach the mitochondria, studies suggest it helps them produce that energy more efficiently. Healthier cell energy is linked in research to better circulation, calmer tissue after strain, and support for the body’s normal repair processes.

This is not a new fad device. Light therapy has been studied for decades, including by NASA researchers looking at plant growth and wound support in space. Today it shows up in dermatology offices, physical therapy clinics, professional sports locker rooms, and recovery studios.

What people use red light therapy for

Being straight with you: red light therapy is a wellness support tool, not a medical treatment, and it does not replace a doctor. What the research and everyday use support, in plain language:

  • Muscle recovery after training. Athletes use it around workouts to support recovery and reduce how beaten up they feel the next day.
  • Joint comfort and stiffness. Many people find regular sessions help them feel looser and more comfortable in stiff, overworked joints.
  • Circulation support. The light is associated with increased blood flow in the treated area, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients where tissue needs them.
  • Skin health. Red light is widely used to support collagen and skin tone, which is why it appears in so many skincare clinics.
  • General energy and mood. Because it works at the cellular energy level, regular users often report simply feeling better day to day.

It is not a cure for anything, and I will never sell it to you as one. It is a quiet, evidence-informed way to support what your body is already trying to do.

Why I pair it with Fascial Stretch Therapy

Here is the idea behind offering it at VCan Fitness, and why I do not charge extra for it.

Fascial Stretch Therapy works from the outside in. You lie on the table, I guide your body through gentle, pain-free stretches that target the fascia, the connective tissue web that wraps your muscles and joints. It opens up tight hips, shoulders, backs, and necks in a way that is very hard to do on your own.

Red light therapy works from the inside out, at the cell level, at the exact same time. While your muscles and fascia are being lengthened and released, the light is supporting circulation and cellular energy in the same tissue.

Stretching opens things up. The light supports the tissue while it happens. You were already going to be on the table for the hour, so there is no extra appointment, no extra drive across town, and no extra bill. One visit, two recovery tools working together.

Plenty of places in the Nashville area charge $30 to $60 or more for a standalone red light session. Here it is simply part of your session.

What a session looks like

Your session at VCan Fitness takes place at 1648 Westgate Cir Suite 227, Brentwood, TN 37027, inside LUX Salon Suites.

  1. We talk for a minute about where your body feels tight or restricted today.
  2. You lie down on the table, fully clothed, and the red light panel is positioned over the area we are working on.
  3. I guide you through your Fascial Stretch Therapy session while the light runs. For a 60-minute session, that is a full hour of red light exposure while you stretch.
  4. You get up moving easier, and most people leave feeling noticeably looser and calmer.

There is nothing you need to do, wear, or bring. No special clothing, no prep, no downtime afterwards. You can come on a lunch break and go straight back to your day.

We serve clients from Brentwood, Franklin, Cool Springs, and across the greater Nashville area.

Is red light therapy safe?

For most people, yes. It is non-invasive, drug-free, and does not use UV light, so there is no tanning or burning risk. Sessions are comfortable and most people find the warmth relaxing.

A few sensible cautions. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, take medication that makes you sensitive to light, or have any concern at all, check with your doctor first. If you have a serious or undiagnosed health issue, that belongs with a medical professional, not a stretching studio. I am happy to support your wellness routine, and just as happy to tell you when something is outside what I do.

Cost, and how to try it

Frequently asked questions

What is red light therapy in simple terms? It is exposure to red and near-infrared light that your cells absorb. Research suggests it supports how your cells make energy, which is linked to circulation, recovery, and skin health. It is painless and involves no UV light.

Do I have to pay extra for red light therapy at VCan Fitness? No. It runs during your stretching session and is included in the session price. A 60-minute session gives you a full hour of light at no added cost.

How long before I notice anything? Some people feel looser and more relaxed after one session. Like stretching itself, the bigger benefits build with consistency over a few weeks of regular sessions.

Does red light therapy hurt or burn? No. There is no UV light and no burning. Most people feel only a mild, pleasant warmth.

Is red light therapy a medical treatment? No. It is a wellness support, not a diagnosis or treatment for any condition. If you have a medical concern, talk to your doctor. If you are pregnant or on light-sensitive medication, check with your doctor before booking.
